Ripple has added Stripe-owned wallets to the XRP Ledger, and it reports that AI-driven payments on the platform have passed 14 million. Two things to connect: a major payments brand embedding its wallet infrastructure on a public ledger, and AI agents as the transacting party.
This is the convergence point for this newsletter. Crypto provides the settlement layer, the stable value, and the 24/7 rail; AI provides the autonomous actor that decides when and where to move it. When both are live together, 'payment' stops being a human tapping an app and becomes a decision an agent makes and settles.
Why it will still matter in a few months: once AI-agent payments are a countable, growing volume, the businesses that win are the ones the agents can transact with. Distribution shifts to whoever is agent-payable. The 14M figure is the proof the loop is closing.
